Carving our Pumpkins

We finally got around to carving our pumpkins tonight. The kids love it. This usually ends up making the request to dad of what they want and then dad does the carving. We love the process and the end result!
Hannah is always willing to help and give her two cents on any project!
K'Leigh and her witch pumpkin!
Hannah and her scary face pumpkin, McKay with a darth vader ghost and K'Leigh and her witch

Corn Maze Fun

Tonight we took the kids to a corn maze. Some were excited and some scared.
But all in all we had a great family night together.

This is how K'Leigh traveled the first half and then she got down and had a good time!!

Me and the kids. I sure love these kiddo's
Hannah got a sucker at the first. She was good all the way through. She never got scared. It was such a fun night!

Those Halliday boys always know how to end a good party!!

The boys wanted to play basketball in the dark. I knew this was a bad idea so I say Trent be careful! Look what happened? Trent says that I jinxed him? I say I just know him and his brothers!

This is Trent's eye and yes a few of us thought it needed stitches. The boys won that fight also. So no stitches it was!!

Uncle Corey's elbow was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was such a good sport and so nice about it. Thank you and he lived!!
The day after! He had to go to work and he was a little worried about defending the public with and black eye. He did great as always!!

Day off from school, So we spent it at the dentist!!

We had an appointment at 8:00 am on a day off from school. This is really not a good idea, we were late. Suprise, Suprise!!

Mckay had two fillings today. He told the dentist that he could not sleep last night because he was so excited to go to the dentist!! This kid, I have no idea where he came from.

When they put these metal clamps in his mouth he told me that he was going to take a rest with these "jaws" in his mouth.

Now K'Leigh on the other hand was a little nervous. She got the shot and her face got a little swollen. She went pale and they were a little worried about her passing out. She did fine after I gave her my jacket and she got a little warmer and I tried to keep her mind preoccupied!

Needless to say we are now going to take an early resty and try to heal up!!!

Trent Cartoon

Take this test!

It's hard to improve when you're pretty much it, right? You're an original, a trend-setter, and, well, completely hilarious. Always a pioneer, you know what you're good at and go with it, no matter what the critics think. At times controversial, you know that you have to make waves to get a big splash. No wonder your way of doing things is always ahead of the crowd.

Just because something's popular, doesn't mean it's hot. From clothes to music to movies, you're way above following trends. Look up "timeless" in the dictionary and there's your face. Such a classic!

Trent's TV Mom

Take this test!

You are Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. A traditional mama you aren't, but that doesn't mean you don't love your kids or aren't great in this role. You like to put a modern twist on things — no need to become your mother, after all — although sometimes you might wonder if that wouldn't be all bad.

You probably believe in being friends with your child, and you try your best to be open and honest about your choices, good or bad, past or present. You like being known as the cool mom in the neighborhood that your kids' friends can come to if they need an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Sometimes your children may wish they had a mom that acted like everyone else's — or at least one who didn't raid their closets and acted her age. But most of the time, they think you're pretty cool. And that's fine by you, because the feeling is mutual.

Which TV mom are you?

Take this test!

You are June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver. You might not wear pearls while you do your housework, but you probably like the idea of being a traditional type of mom who bakes special treats for your kids when they come home from school and who sits down to dinner with them at night. You think of thoughtful ways to show your kids you care — like making elaborate Halloween costumes or whipping up chicken noodle soup for sore throats — and you work hard to stay involved in their lives.

Of course, you teach your children right from wrong and always hold them to strict standards, though you may prefer that someone else in the household do the actual disciplining. That's just because you are so devoted to your little ones, you can't stand the thought of missing out on any time with them behind angry doors or pouting faces.

Mommy's Day Out

Today I got to go to a Purse making class! I loved it!! I am way excited, I have been a purse hound for many years now and always trying to find a cute bag! Now I can just find the fabric! I think that I will try a few different ways and see what I can come up with!!

This is Pauline, she was one of the three nice ladies that were in the class. I was at least thirty years younger than all the other ladies. They were very nice to me and I had a great time!!
I even learned how to put pockets in, add the little clasps, interfacing and everything else that goes into it. It was easier than I thought it would be but it has some tricks that you gotta have someone show you how to do!!
It was a nice day out and I have a cute purse to show for it!!

Gunnison Pumpkin Patch

Our trip to the Gunnison Pumpkin Patch. Hannah could not believe all of the pumpkins around her. She loved it. McKay found his pumpkin right away. K'Leigh on the other hand took a long time picking out the perfect pumpkin. "this one is to yellow, this one has a bump." It took some time but she found the one she thought would make a great Cat jack-o-lantern. It was alot of fun, the kids really enjoyed it.

A humbling experience- I thought I would share!

I am using this as my journal right now so please bear with me!

Today we had a very humbling experience.
A close friend of ours has a son that is three years old and was born with a weird case of dwarfism. About two months ago they went to Primary Children's Hospital to have a rib extending procedure. They took a whole lot of classes and training to be able to bring him home when he was ready. The time came and that was last week. They brought him home on complete life support.
(FYI- they also have a two year old daughter!)
Today the ambulance pager went off and Trent went on the call. Low and behold it was to their house. I instantly thought of the little girl. So I went up to the house and the little girl had went with grandma and grandpa early this morning.
So I was standing their but did not want to leave the mad house. I was trying to help where I could.
This is probably the saddest thing I have seen in along time.
He is still hanging on tonight, they life lighted him back to Primary's and he has Pneumonia.
Our Prayers are with Chief Harwood and his family in this time of need.

The reason I tell this story because I know that some days, okay everyday I take my family and my loved ones for granite. I truly love being the mother, wife and any other titles that I carry. I have always wanted to be a mom and wife.
My Children are the absolute joy of my life. K'Leigh and her free spirit. She makes our family so happy. She is difficult sometimes but that is when I say to myself I am only getting what I deserve. McKay has the most tender heart and is so loving. He is the one that keeps this family loving each other so much. Hannah is our little happy spirit. She is very demanding and keeps us on our toes, I would have it no other way.
I am so thankful for this experience I have had today to take time to reflect on my wonderful life. I am so blessed and thankful for the health and strength that my family is blessed with.
Love you all and thanks for letting me use this as my journal.

Our little Miss Independance

Our little princess thinks that she is to big for a High Chair and to let someone else feed her!

Yogurt is way to messy to let the 18 month old feed herself with!!
(excuse the bed head, it was snack after naps!)

Yes she had already had her bath and then diner of Broccoli Cheese soup. This also had to be fed by herself. It was not a clean thing either.

Eternally Thankful to Grandma Great

Our Grandma came through once again. I found this way cute fabric and I automatically visioned a skirt. I was going to be brave and try to make it. I chickened out when the pattern said that I was a size 16 or 18. I said that is okay if that is what it I am, but I will not make anything that is a size 16. I called Grandma up and she tried to explain that patterns are weird. I just asked her to make it for me and then my brain went crazy and thought to have her make the girls one.
We wore them to church as soon as we got them. We love them so much and are so grateful to have someone so talented in our corner.
Thank you once again Grandma, we love you and can not wait to see you soon!!

cartwheels anyone?????

so I was at my friends house last night and the kids are all doing their cartwheels. my friend alicia said,"that they were all doing their cartwheels backwards." "I said what do you mean?" "so she asked me what hand I used?" I said," I don't know, let's see?"

Yes so me being the thinker that I am just busted out with a cartwheel. I do say that it was a decent cartwheel for someone that has not done one in ten years.
I think that it will be my last ever though. I have had a minor back surgery and continue to have a bad back. Needless to say that this did not help this.
I was a little stiff at the first of the day but here it is the middle of the night and I am so stiff that I can not sleep. I think that these muscles, joints or whatever are hurting are going to go back in to hiding for a very long time.

I hope that this story is a learning experience for all. Sadly I guess our bodies are older than our minds think we are.
Or maybe it is just me?!?!?!

Hannah's latest milestone

Hannah has broadened her Chinese vocabulary. (Chinese meaning that only her family can understand what she is saying )
She now says "I did it, I want it, I need it"
Instead of "No mine"
We were very thankful for the change and the new exciting words.
I think that she is starting to say K'Leigh and McKay also.
It is so not fair how fast she has grown!!!

So.........

Tonight I was talking to my grandma on the phone and I heard Hannah say, " I did it!"
My grandma said," what did she do?"
I said," who knows?"
Then I went a looking, that is when I found her painting my walls with clear fingernail polish.
How she got the bottle open is beyond me.

When I got her in the bath after washing the walls she had it all over her belly and hands!
We made it threw another day with an eighteen month old!

We LOVE you K'Leigh

Scientist in the Making ???

Our little K'Leigh brought home a paper that was titled "About me Sheet"
It asked to name two words that describe me: Nice and Crazy
Things I am good at: Math, Art and Swimming!
Things I would like to learn about: Dogs, Cats, Dolphins and Turtles.

Then the next day it was the book fair at school. I sent five dollars with her and told her that she had to buy a book and with anything that was left she could buy a eraser or something like that. So she bought a book about Gorilla's.
We love every aspect of being K'leigh's parents.

Someday we hope that she will be able to make a career out of her love for animals and the world around her!

We love you K'Leigh. Thank you for letting me be your mom and loving and enjoying everything you say and do!!!

I think that we are now the Halliday farmers!!

Trent was walking out to go to work yesterday and he found this bull snake!! I started screaming and Hannah was jumping up and down with excitment!!!

Yes this is a snake around my daughters neck!! McKay loved it also, but it went around his arm and that is when he started to freak out!

Saturday Is a Special Day!!

Tonight I put sponge curlers in Hannah's Hair and French Braided K'Leigh's. The plan was to make their hair curly for the primary program. K'Leighs looked so cute, Hannah already has a lot of natural curl so the sponge curlers just made them these tight stick to her head curls. It was defitinly cute! We love having twice the hair to do! K'Leigh is getting more and more patient with me and trying things!!

This was my third attempt at french braiding. It is not as hard as I thought! Sure wish I would have tried about seven years ago!! Thanks to Grandma Great for teaching me!!!
